Classico brings Sunday sauce to football season

The sauce brings the brand’s traditional Sunday dinner ritual into the gameday occasion and will be available exclusively through Walmart.com from September 8 while supplies last.

Classico is combining two Sunday traditions with its NFL partnership, launching Classico Sunday Football Sauce as a limited-edition pasta sauce for the 2026 football season.

The sauce brings the brand’s traditional Sunday dinner ritual into the gameday occasion and will be available exclusively through Walmart.com from September 8 while supplies last.

Classico launches limited-edition NFL pasta sauce

As an Official Pasta Sauce Sponsor of the NFL, Classico developed Sunday Football Sauce to connect football viewing with family and friends gathering over a pasta meal. The sauce is positioned as an option for fans who want a slow-cooked-style dinner without spending hours preparing it.

Made with beef and pork slow simmered in a rich tomato sauce, the product is designed to deliver a Bolognese-style flavor. Classico is drawing on more than 40 years of pasta sauce production and a range of recipes as it expands its association with Sunday gatherings during football season.

How Classico is combining football and Sunday dinner

Classico is positioning the product around the overlap between football viewing and the longstanding tradition of Sunday sauce. The brand cites research indicating that more than half of Americans eat pasta sauce at least once a week, while nearly half of football fans prefer watching games at the home of a friend or family member.

The strategy gives Classico a way to connect its core product category with a recurring social occasion throughout the NFL season. Rather than treating football sponsorship as a standalone sports marketing platform, the brand is using the partnership to promote pasta as part of the gameday meal.

Sarah Manley, Brand Manager, Classico: "Sunday sauce has long been a symbol of family and connection, and football has become synonymous with coming together to cheer for your favorite team,” said Sarah Manley, Brand Manager for Classico. “With our new Sunday Football Sauce, we’re bringing those two traditions together in a way that feels both instantly familiar and genuinely new—giving loyal fans and home cooks alike a meaningful reason to gather around the table."

Sunday Football Sauce targets NFL gameday gatherings

The launch forms part of Kraft Heinz’s wider partnership with the NFL and its focus on gameday occasions. Classico Sunday Football Sauce is scheduled to debut ahead of the 2026 NFL Kickoff, giving the brand a product-led activation around the start of the football season.

The limited-edition sauce will be available exclusively on Walmart.com from September 8, while supplies last.

Classico builds on its NFL sponsorship

The product launch extends Classico’s role as an Official Pasta Sauce Sponsor of the NFL by linking the brand to an established consumer ritual rather than focusing solely on the sport itself.

By combining football viewing with the familiar format of a shared pasta dinner, Classico is using its sponsorship to create an occasion for product consumption throughout the season.
