Citroën turns dreams into reality with C5 Aircross campaign
Citroën and its agency BETC Paris have released a new campaign for the C5 Aircross SUV, a cinematic film that merges dreams and reality to showcase the vehicle’s design, technology, and comfort. Directed by Fredrik Bond, the spot draws inspiration from classic dream-loop storytelling to capture the feeling of a car so comfortable it seems unreal.
The film opens with a man waking to the sound of his alarm and the familiar tune Reality by Richard Sanderson — but outside his window, the world has transformed. Oversized garden gnomes and floating teacups fill the street before the C5 Aircross appears, prompting the hero to question whether he is still dreaming. Each repetition of his morning grows more surreal, until he steps into the SUV and discovers its refined interior, advanced comfort features, and sleek design. The story concludes with the tagline: A dream, now a reality.
A cinematic expression of comfort and design
Nick Bakshi, Creative Director, BETC Paris: "Some products just change your notion of what’s possible. They warp your sense of reality. That’s the effect we wanted to convey here in our typical humorous and self-aware tone. We wanted to show how it feels to step inside a car that seems too good to be true – until you realise it’s real."
On social platforms, BETC Fullsix and Very Content have created complementary short films highlighting key features of the SUV in a dreamlike setting. Each piece introduces a new character and focuses on themes such as space, comfort, and technology — elements central to the C5 Aircross experience.
Expanding Citroën’s cinematic storytelling
The film continues Citroën’s series of cinematic comedies, following The Alien for the ë-C4 and The Hunt for Hibernation for the C3 Aircross.
Mehdi Benali, Managing Director, BETC Paris: "With this film, we continue to explore bold, entertaining narratives that blend spectacular visuals with everyday relatability. It’s a balance that makes the brand distinctive in automotive storytelling today."
Xavier Chardon, Chief Executive Officer, Citroën: "The C5 Aircross is a cornerstone of our line-up. With this campaign, we highlight its design, technology, and unmatched comfort in a way that’s engaging, playful, and true to Citroën’s DNA."
Olivier François, Chief Marketing Officer, Stellantis: "It’s not just a car – it’s the embodiment of our promise to let people live large."
Nostalgia meets modern creativity
Produced by Very Content with post-production by Light, the campaign features the 1980s song Reality by Richard Sanderson, adding warmth and irony to the surreal visuals. The nostalgic soundtrack reinforces the dreamlike atmosphere while offering a familiar wink to audiences.
The campaign will roll out across Europe via TV, cinema, digital, social, print, and outdoor channels.
