Citroën drops satirical film to spotlight 8-year warranty

Citroen and its agency BETC Paris have released a satirical film titled 2034 ELECTION, using political parody to highlight the brand’s long warranty promise.

The 55-second spot imagines a near future shaped by social and technological disruption, where even presidential elections take an unexpected turn. The film positions reassurance as the central message, contrasting global unpredictability with the stability of a car warranty.

Satire frames long-term warranty message

The story opens with a fictional political news broadcast covering a 2034 presidential debate. The anchor introduces two conventional candidates before presenting a third contender: a social media influencer who is also a dachshund wearing a top hat, known as Mr. Doodlesworth. As the studio audience erupts in applause, the film cuts to a young man watching the debate at home in disbelief.

At the height of the absurdity, a calm voiceover states: “Don’t freak out. In 8 years, your Citroën will still be under warranty.” The protagonist looks out the window at his vehicle parked outside, offering a visual counterpoint to the chaos on screen.

Production blends surrealism and pop culture

The film was produced by STINK and VERY CONTENT, and directed by Traktor. It combines cinematic production with exaggerated, surreal elements to reinforce its comedic tone.

The soundtrack features Macho Man by Village People, underscoring the absurd political spectacle and aligning with the brand’s established comedic approach.

With 2034 ELECTION, Citroën uses humor to frame its warranty as a constant in an unpredictable world, positioning long-term coverage as a source of certainty amid change.
