BBH takes Monzo’s Book of Money campaign to London streets
BBH has developed a London-wide out-of-home campaign for Monzo that brings the bank’s personal finance guide The Book of Money into public spaces during the festive period. The work translates the thinking behind BBH’s earlier experiential activity into a high-impact OOH rollout designed to connect seasonal gifting with longer-term financial planning.
Running for two weeks in December, the campaign includes a full Transport for London station platform takeover at Oxford Circus, alongside digital escalator panels, tube car panels and digital out-of-home placements across the capital. The timing targets Christmas footfall while also introducing themes associated with the start of a calendar year.
From experiential to out-of-home
The OOH campaign builds on BBH’s Book Nook Soho pop-up, which offered visitors a personalised experience centred on Monzo’s finance guide. That activation focused on presenting one book in hundreds of personalised variations, with visitors generating covers aligned to individual financial goals.

In the OOH executions, this idea is adapted for scale. Each placement features a different title on the book cover, reflecting motivations such as saving for a holiday, starting a business, moving home or spending on Christmas gifts. The approach anchors the messaging in everyday situations that align with audience behaviour at this time of year.
Visual identity and creative approach
The campaign was photographed by Sophie Green and adopts a high-flash, saturated colour style intended to give the work a contemporary visual identity. Each execution includes Monzo’s coral-coloured book as a consistent asset, with the surrounding setting and title tailored to the individual scenario depicted.
By combining photography, set design and copy, the creative aims to prompt viewers to reflect on their own reasons for engaging with personal finance content, without relying on financial jargon or technical language.
Client and agency perspectives
Chris Mucklow-Norell, head of brand marketing at Monzo: "The Book of Money was written to deliver upon our mission; to make money work for everyone. It has already surpassed our expectations, and it’s the incredible reactions from customers that inspired us to develop this campaign. With bold, standout creative we want to show how universal, yet deeply individual, the journey to feeling confident with money really is."
Felipe Guimaraes, executive creative director at BBH: "If Book Nook was an immersive way to experience The Book of Money, the OOH is an iconic way to bring it to life. Simple and undeniably Monzo."
Research-driven messaging
Monzo’s focus on The Book of Money is underpinned by research showing that 88 percent of young people do not feel confident managing their finances, often due to limited access to financial education earlier in life. The book addresses topics ranging from budgeting to pensions and has achieved Sunday Times bestseller status.
Media agency Starcom worked with BBH and Monzo to secure high-impact locations across London, with the aim of maximising visibility during a peak travel and shopping period.
