US AI media market to reach $48B in 2034
The United States market for artificial intelligence in media and entertainment is projected to grow significantly, driven by increased adoption across content creation, advertising and production workflows.
According to a report from ResearchAndMarkets.com, the sector is expected to expand from $9.70 billion in 2025 to $47.95 billion by 2034, reflecting a compound annual growth rate of 19.43 percent from 2026 to 2034.
AI adoption accelerates across media sectors
Growth is being fuelled by the rising use of AI in areas such as audience analytics, automated editing, personalised recommendations and virtual production. Streaming platforms, gaming companies and digital advertisers are increasing investment in AI to improve engagement, reduce costs and accelerate creative workflows.
The report highlights that the United States’ advanced digital infrastructure and strong entertainment industry are contributing to rapid adoption. Film studios, game developers and news organisations are integrating AI tools to streamline production and deliver more tailored content experiences.
Automation drives efficiency and scale
AI-powered automation is reshaping production processes across film, television and digital content. Machine learning tools are being used to handle post-production tasks such as colour grading, noise reduction and metadata tagging, allowing creative teams to focus on higher-value work.
Generative AI is also supporting earlier stages of production, including script development, storyboarding and rough-cut editing. These capabilities help reduce production timelines and enable faster iteration, particularly for studios managing tight schedules.
In September 2024, Qvest and NVIDIA announced a partnership to accelerate AI adoption in media and entertainment, focusing on improving operational efficiency and audience engagement.

Personalisation reshapes audience engagement
AI-driven recommendation systems are playing a central role in increasing viewer retention and engagement. Platforms are using advanced algorithms to tailor content suggestions, optimise thumbnails and personalise trailers for different audience segments.
This level of personalisation supports higher watch time and subscription retention, while also improving advertising performance through more relevant targeting. AI is also enabling interactive content formats that adapt in real time based on user behaviour.
In December 2024, TIME introduced a platform focused on AI-driven storytelling, offering tools for customised content creation, translation and voice capabilities.
Generative AI expands creative possibilities
Advances in generative AI are enabling the production of text, images, audio and video at scale, supporting both large studios and independent creators. These tools reduce barriers to entry by allowing smaller teams to produce high-quality content without extensive resources.
AI is also being used for testing multiple creative variations before full production, helping optimise content performance. In November 2025, a company launched MoAI, an AI-powered marketing suite designed to automate content generation and campaign workflows.
Legal and ethical challenges persist
Despite strong growth prospects, the report identifies ongoing challenges related to intellectual property, licensing and rights management. The use of AI models trained on copyrighted material raises questions around ownership and compliance, increasing legal complexity for content producers.
Ethical concerns also remain, particularly around bias, misinformation and the use of synthetic media. Media companies are investing in verification tools and governance frameworks to ensure transparency and maintain audience trust.
These challenges are expected to shape how quickly AI can be deployed at scale, as companies balance innovation with regulatory and reputational considerations.
