Universal Ads adds AI video generator for TV campaigns

Universal Ads has launched an in-platform tool that allows advertisers to create television-ready commercials using generative AI in minutes. The feature, currently in beta, removes the need for pre-existing video assets, giving businesses of any size access to premium TV campaigns.

The platform, introduced in January, aims to make TV advertising as straightforward as social media advertising. With the new tool, brands can upload marketing materials or website content and generate a 15-second ad, refining visuals, messaging and scripts within the platform.

The AI-powered video generator includes instant creative production, multi-audience targeting and customizable scripts with tone options such as motivational, casual or engaging. Automated asset capture enables the system to pull brand imagery and messaging directly from a company’s website to create on-brand commercials.

James Borow, Vice President of Product and Engineering, Universal Ads: “We often hear companies say they want to be on TV but don’t have commercials ready to air or the budget to make one. Having a native creative feature in platform immediately resolves that concern for brands and makes the Universal Ads platform a one-stop-shop for advertisers from campaign creation to delivery and measurement.”

The tool was developed in collaboration with Creatify, an AI platform specialising in high-performance video advertising. Creatify recently received investment from Comcast Ventures, which supports emerging technologies aligned with Comcast’s business innovation strategy, including Universal Ads.

Universal Ads is initially rolling out the feature to select advertisers. In addition, the company offers a TV Business Partners Program, allowing brands to integrate preferred creative partners into the platform’s workflow for greater flexibility.

Through Universal Ads, brands can place campaigns across programming from 16 major publishers, including NBCUniversal, Warner Bros. Discovery, Paramount, Roku, Fox Corporation, and TelevisaUnivision, with additional partners expected.
