Microsoft, Publicis expand AI marketing deal
Microsoft and Publicis Groupe have announced an expanded strategic partnership to deliver a full-stack marketing solution that integrates legacy systems, AI agents, and identity-based data. The initiative builds on a decade-long collaboration, following the co-creation of the AI platform Marcel.
Arthur Sadoun, CEO, Publicis Groupe: "Ten years ago with Microsoft we co-created Marcel, marketing’s first AI platform. Now we’re partnering again to shape the industry, this time as our clients confront the dynamics of the agentic era. Together, we are combining Microsoft’s unmatched technology and AI capabilities with Publicis Sapient’s transformation expertise on top of Epsilon’s industry-leading identity data to deliver agentic solutions that are truly game-changing for clients."
Empowering marketers in the agentic AI era
The partnership aims to help marketers focus on strategy, creativity, and innovation while embedding AI across the marketing workflow. Key components include:
Modern cloud foundations: Publicis Sapient’s Slingshot framework will leverage Microsoft Azure to migrate legacy systems and create cloud-native AI foundations.
AI agent deployment: Microsoft Copilot Studio, Agent 365, and Microsoft IQ will be integrated into Sapient’s Bodhi platform, enabling enterprise-grade AI agents to manage marketing, commerce, customer engagement, and operations while connecting data and workflows.
Identity-based data model: Epsilon, Publicis’ proprietary intelligence layer, provides trusted data that powers AI agents to make decisions, optimize campaigns, and personalize content at scale.
Judson Althoff, CEO, Microsoft’s commercial business: "This partnership reflects our belief that AI must do more to serve humanity by empowering creativity and innovation. By bringing Microsoft’s cloud and AI capabilities together with Publicis Groupe solutions built on Azure, we are giving creatives and makers the freedom to spend less time on repetitive execution and more time shaping ideas, building brands and driving meaningful growth for our customers."
Global deployment and enterprise integration
Publicis will provide Microsoft 365 Copilot to all 114,000+ employees worldwide and has selected Azure as its preferred cloud provider. Additionally, Publicis will become Microsoft’s global media agency of record. The collaboration aims to link audience, signal, and performance data to deliver measurable business outcomes, extending Marcel’s pioneering role in marketing AI to enterprise-wide applications.
